Open Writing Retreat (Summer 2022, Fridays 10am - 11am)
Having trouble getting started or focusing on your research assignment that's due soon? Feeling isolated and unmotivated?

This retreat might just be the difference you need. The goals of a writing retreat are to help you make progress on a writing assignment, learn writing strategies that can help with productivity for future assignments, and just feel good about writing. What happens at a retreat? Basically, everybody writes, with some useful and supportive structures. Here's what we'll do:

- Welcome, introduction, ground rules, ice-breaker
- Warm-up fun free-write (NOT about the assignment!) to help you feel positive and ready to write
- Individual goal-setting activity to emphasize focus and direction, so you know where you’re going
- 2 x 20-minute writing sessions with a 5-minute break in between writing sessions
- Everyone writes. Yes, everyone: students and writing instructors...
- Concluding breakout groups, where we share the progress we’ve made and set out the next steps in our writing projects.

Bring everything you will need to write: ideas, outlines, drafts, reading notes, doodles, favourite mug, and snacks.
